A Vote for Carol is a Vote for Both Candidates!

Greetings friends and colleagues,

My name is Carol Naughton, RDR, and I am the Nominating Committee’s choice for NCRA’s Vice President for the 2025-2026 Board term.  The Nominating Committee plays a very important role in vetting, interviewing, and selecting the best choices to fill the roles of our directors. It’s this procedure that ensures a candidate has been truthful, is qualified, and is fit to serve these vital positions.

This year, my opponent chose a different path by opting out of the traditional nominating process and instead secured a place on the ballot through a petition procedure — a process that is entirely permitted under our current policies. Once the Nominating Committee presents its slate of officers for the upcoming year, there is a 60-day window during which any member may pursue a spot on the ballot by collecting the required signatures and submitting character letters.

In this election, the outcome carries significant weight for me. If I do not earn the confidence and support of the membership, it marks the conclusion of a 14-year leadership journey—one shaped by dedication to committee initiatives, personal growth as a board member, and meaningful contributions through the Court Reporters Advisory Group, which serves as guidance to the Administrative Office of the United States. On the other hand, should I be elected, my opponent will continue in her current role as director.

Below are some key dates and a link to NCRA’s Election Center. Make sure you’re informed before casting your vote! Take the time to review both candidates’ résumés, questionnaire responses, and digital brochures. I trust you will recognize the meaningful contributions we each bring to the board and will join me in advocating for continuity, stability, and sustained progress in our governance.

By voting for me, you ensure that both candidates remain in service—combining our distinct strengths to form a more balanced, effective board. Together, we can deliver strong, united leadership that puts NCRA’s mission and its members first.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message!

Respectfully Yours,

Carol L. Naughton, RDR
